CHEAP WINE, A CAMPFIRE & AN IDEA IS BORN

Welcome fellow campers to campmore.ca!  We are super excited to get our maps and swag rolled out for everyone to enjoy!  This has been almost a year in the making and we are so happy to finally have our idea rolled out. 

So let me tell you how we got started with campmore.ca and the story behind it….

My husband and I have been camping most of our lives.  We love the outdoors and being busy outside; whether it's driving around on our quad or camping hours away from home we love to get out and explore.  When our daughter was born we decided we needed something to do as a family during the summer when we take most of our vacation; then popped into our heads the idea of a trailer.  We both agreed it was a great idea, but now couldn’t settle on a trailer size! I wanted tent trailer or hybrid, my husband wanted 25 foot + or a 5th wheel.  We eventually settled on our beautiful 25 foot 2012 Jayco travel trailer with the dinette/couch 3 foot slide.  I have yet to see a trailer as pretty as ours! Have to toot our own horn of course!

The first year & the learning curve

So once that baby got into our driveway it was time to load it up and pick some camp sites! We did quite well our first year of camping and met a lot of great people.  We lived and we learned…oh boy, did we learn!  Everything from dump station etiquette to ideas on how to keep a one year old baby content camping, we did a lot of learning.  As much work as it was, looking back on it now, it definitely was amazing and we definitely have improved our skills since then too.

Cheap wine & great ideas

The first year was awesome.  We then welcomed our second year of camping in 2016.  We managed to squeeze in 6 trips within 6 months.  Our longest trip of them all, the hubby and I were sitting around the campfire drinking red wine out of cheap-o plastic cups….this is a key part to the story….I’m positive this is partially responsible for campmore.ca and its existence.  We remember being kids and seeing the USA stickers on trailers and how some had a lot of the states coloured in and other not a lot at all.  We took this idea and generated the Ontario provincial park version; and ‘ta-da!’ campmore.ca was born!! With a lot of help from our friend we were able to bring our idea to life and hopefully can share it with fellow campers.  Keeping the first blog post short I will cut it off here.  There’s plenty more posts coming…everything from campmore.ca updates, favourite park stories, recipes, camping products, kid-friendly posts and of course interesting/funny stories from our experiences.
